Club Facilities

There are 3 electric kilns used constantly and 1 gas kiln used monthly when enough work is available to fire. Several times a year there are raku and pit firings for members and class participants.

The main club building has 4 rooms, the work room, the drying room, the glazing room and the kiln room. There are 2 sheds - the clay store shed and the gas kiln and materials store shed. 2 containers house items used for events the club holds annually.

The work room is where clay construction happens whether it be hand-building or on the wheel. There are 8 wheels and 2 slab rolling machines, a wide selection of clay moulds, and a library of books for inspiration and knowledge, which may be borrowed. Tea and coffee making facilities and a microwave are available.

The drying room is used to dry freshly made work. There is also an area for wedging clay.

The glazing room is used for glazing. There is a wax area, a spraying area and a large selection of glazes and tools for applying different glazing techniques.

The kiln room houses 3 electric kilns that can fire as high as 1260 C.  Work waiting to be fired is stored here too. Firing charges are based on a volume basis. The firing price is inclusive of glaze materials and the second firing after glazing.

The clay store room holds a large selection of different types of clay. Members can buy clay at a lower price than non members. See clay prices list on the wall behind the wheels.

The club holds some annual public events as part of its fundraising activities. See events for more information.
