Jo-Anne Hare

I have been a prolific potter since 2014, from my first bowl thrown on the wheel I was hooked.

I started out mainly doing domestic ware, which I still love. After 2 years doing a Ceramics and Glaze diploma I expanded to hand building and making some of my own glazes. I am also known as Jojo and have my own small studio which is Jojo Ceramics NZ.

Hand made pieces are all slightly different and that people who choose to use such pieces appreciate the items for what they are, and the potter who made them.

I tutor beginners and continuation pottery and my goals are to teach good solid techniques, the basics that will set you up to achieve their creative goals.

In my classes I demonstrate the techniques that will take you from the preparation of the clay, to centering the clay and how to pull walls, make lids, alter and trim your pieces. Also how to safely glaze your work with different techniques to make a variety of pottery pieces.

I refer to it as teaching the A, B, C’s so that you can write their own pottery story.
