Lyuba Zhilkina

I came to New Zealand from Russia in 2010. I quickly took the opportunity to start learning pottery in Wellington.

My first teacher was Shige Ohashi, who introduced me to the idea of demonstrating perfection through simplicity.

Later, in 2017, I joined the Otaki Pottery Club where I became part of a wonderful community and took Jenny Turnbull's classes to continue improving my skills.

Drawing from the experience of my past teachers I try and build on their knowledge when leading my own classes.

By placing emphasis on the Japanese style, and merging it with European to create something unique. Working with my students becomes a learning experience for me as well and it brings me great joy to see them learn, improve and develop their own way.
