Pit Firing Workshop
|
Participant Requirements:
Applicants should be comfortable working independently, as this workshop will empower you to bring your creative vision to life. Whether you're a seasoned artist or new to the world of pottery, this workshop offers a supportive environment for all skill levels.
Workshop Schedule:
The journey begins with an introduction day where Chris Dunn will guide you through the preparation of your pots, followed by a low bisque firing. Approximately four weeks later, the weekend event will commence. Over the course of two days, starting at 9am on Saturday, the pit firing process will unfold. On Sunday, participants will come together again at 1pm for the unloading, revealing the transformed pieces that have emerged from the fiery embrace of the pit.
Clay Recommendations:
For optimal results, we recommend using clays such as MF Porcelain, HF Porcelain and White Stoneware. To ensure the success of your pieces, kindly refrain from submitting open forms, plates, bowls, or thin-walled work. For those interested in working on larger pieces, arrangements can be made to accommodate your creative aspirations.
If you're ready to take your pottery skills to new heights and immerse yourself in the ancient art of pit firing, don't miss out on this remarkable workshop opportunity. Spaces are limited, so be sure to register soon.
