Red Traffic Light setting - Members

24/1/2022

As you will all be aware by now, the whole country is moving to Level Red in the COVID traffic light system.

This means that it will be mandatory (until further notice) for anyone entering the clubrooms to be wearing a mask.  😷

We also ask that you respect other member's space.

Please be aware that some of the kiln fairies may not be wearing masks so please knock on the door before entering.

Red Traffic Light Setting - Adult Pottery Class Students

24/1/2022

You may be wondering whether the  Red Traffic Light status will affect our classes.
So to clarify:

Classes will be running as expected, starting the week beginning February 7th (except for the Monday class which will begin on Monday 14th).

Emily Friedlander, the Adult Class Coordinator will need to view your vaccine passport before you can enter your classroom. The best thing would be for you to email it to her now for sighting.

If you can’t do that, Emily or someone else appointed to the job, will have to sight it before you enter the clubrooms on the day of your lesson.

Wearing masks is mandatory once more, until further notice.

Also, a note about Kiln Accounts.  The club policy is to clear the accounts at the end of every term. We are now asking you to please put into your account  $20 or more, so that it is in credit before the start of term.

After that it is really important to look in the ring binder labelled CLASSES (in the kiln room) at least monthly, to see what you are owing.  Make sure you write Kiln Account and your Club Number in the reference section when internet banking.
(A few of you are new and won’t as yet have a club number, so just your name and Kiln account will have to suffice).

Neil will be firing the downdraft gas kiln on Wednesday 9 February.

All work for firing is to be in the kiln room by 5pm Monday 7 February for loading Tuesday 8 from 2pm.

Unloading will be 2pm Friday 11 February.

We would like to encourage the members that are putting work into this firing to assist with the loading and be present for part of the firing day, especially startup from 7.45am or end of firing from 3pm.

We would also like those members to be present at the unloading when they can view and analyse all the work as it is unloaded.

Please contact Neil 027 4439796 if you are able to help.

These are a good opportunity for members to sell their work so bring it on down to the clubrooms.  Please ensure you have labelled your work well and have filled in a registration form.

Jan 5th If you are helping on the day please park in the OPC carpark.  If you have to park behind someone make sure you let them know.   If you are just coming to have a “look see” please park outside the racecourse entrance gates on the grass.

Jan 13th This is a busy busy day with Races, Rod’s summer school workshop and we Hamilton Tools selling their wares.  If you are helping on the day please park in the OPC carpark.   For all other members, if it is looking really busy and to avoid congestion, please park outside the racecourse entrance gates on the grass.

As we are in the Orange Zone and as the club is mandated under the Vaccine Passport we think it’s time to throw away those masks albeit with provisos, which are:
  • Masks are not mandatory but recommended
  • Social distancing is still advised in the clubrooms
  • All non member visitors to the clubrooms must be able to show proof of vaccination and are encouraged to wear a mask
  • All attendees and front line people at the Tote Modern, Race Days and Summer School are exempt from wearing a mask but are encouraged to do so.
